FAQ's for Dog Boarding

Can I board my dog without doing a Meet & Greet?

No. Unlike other kennels we offer a personalized, one on one environment. Dogs must be able to be handled (leashed), in order to go outside for potty and playtime. We often do not know how dogs will react to being kenneled, especially if it's their first time being boarded, so we have to interact with them in person prior to boarding to see if we can board them. We only accept spayed/neutered dogs who do not have aggression towards people.

Do you accept dogs that aren't spayed or neutered?

We only accept dogs that are spayed or neutered. Our kennel shop is "homey, and close knit," and find that a lot of dogs that aren't spayed/neutered display more aggression or a want to get to other dogs.

What should I bring for my dog's stay?

Promote a positive boarding experience by bringing items to make your dog feel more at home. This can include; favorite toys, bed/blanket, crate (large crates are okay), and new, dog-safe bones (no rawhides please.) Don’t bring feeding bowls, as we provide specially sanitized ones. You must bring your dog's own food to prevent an upset tummy.

Can you administer medications?

Yes, we can administer oral and topical medications only. We do not do insulin injections for the safety of your dog. If your dog takes oral medications, please bring pill pockets or whatever you give them it with.

Do you accept dogs with separation anxiety?

Although we would like to board all dogs, dogs who suffer from separation anxiety can be difficult to board. A lot of dogs with seperation anxiety will display aggression towards other dogs and people because they are stressed and can begin to be destructive (chewing on kennels, trying to climb out of kennels, ect). Dogs who whine and bark at times are fine,  as long as it is doesn't continue during sleeping hours. If they begin to show severve separation anxiety like chewing on kennel bars and barking excessively, they will have to be picked up by the owner or emergency contact. If your dog has to be picked up due to behavioral issues no refund will be issued for any remaining nights of their stay.

My dog sleeps in a crate at night, should I bring it?

Yes, dogs that are crate trained usually view their crate like their home or comfortable den so definetely bring it. We can put it in their large kennel with the door open, or put them in it at night.

Do you interact dogs together or are they kept separate?

Dogs that do not come from the same home do not interact together. We keep the dogs separate to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

What vaccines are required to board my dog?

All dogs must be current on their Rabies, & Distemper vaccinations for at least 2 weeks prior to boarding.
Proof must be shown at drop-off or e-mailed prior.

How many times do the dogs get taken out?

Dogs are taken out 4-5 times daily for potty breaks, play time outside or for walks.

Is the peanut butter you give them in the Kongs dog safe?

Yes, it is non-toxic, Xylitol free.

We provide one-on-one care which is only possible if we structure our time with the dogs throughout the day. To maintain orderly care routines for the dogs, we've created specific times for drop-offs and pick-ups. Drop-off/Pick-up hours are everyday between 7-10am, and 4-6pm. If you choose to pick-up at the later slot (4-6pm), there is a $15 fee for each dog. We are a 2-women team managing the dogs, so you must communicate your drop-off/pick-up times. At drop-off we ask that you give us your estimated pick-up, so we can have your dog ready, so it won't interfere with other dogs' care. If you do not inform us of pick-up time the night before pick-up, we may be unavailable to accommodate your desired time the next day.

When are your drop-off & pick-up hours?

Damm Happy Ranch LLC has the right to cancel boarding reservations for extreme weather conditions, or storms for the wellbeing and overall safety of the dogs. We require that you bring paw booties, or Vet-Wrap, and a dog jacket to keep your dog's paws safe from frostbite during Winter weather conditions. You can also purchase Vet-Wrap from us here at the ranch.

Do you still board dogs during extreme weather/storms?

Because we have limited storage space, all personal items that are left will be donated or disposed of if not picked up within 48 hrs after pickup. Unless other arrangements have been made.
